Home Heroes
A game that turns kids' daily chores into quests, and turns nagging into praise.
- The problem
- Every parent knows the loop: remind, remind again, then argue. Chores become a power struggle, and kids learn that tasks are something done to them. I wanted a system where doing the right thing feels rewarding on its own, and where parents spend their energy noticing effort instead of chasing it.
- What I built
- Home Heroes, a Persian, right-to-left app that installs on any phone. A child ticks off a task, a parent approves it, and coins land in the child's wallet. Coins buy rewards the family chose together, from an in-app shop. Behind it is a small Node.js server with PIN-protected parent accounts, designed to run on hosting inside Iran so it keeps working during international internet outages.
- Why it matters
- Positive reinforcement and clear goals: the same principles I teach managers, applied at the kitchen table. The parent's approval becomes a moment of praise rather than an inspection, and kids start their tasks on their own.
